COMMENTARY & PERFORMANCE
Our signature format – a unique blend of commentary and performance, in which noted scholars, directors, and writers explore a theme, character, or play, as the finest actors of our day perform scenes and speeches. Past participants have included Stephen Greenblatt, Simon Russell Beale, Harold Bloom, Kathleen Chalfant, David Scott Kastan, Trevor Nunn, F. Murray Abraham, David Strathairn and many others.
CINEMATIC SHAKESPEARE
Experience and compare the work of great Shakespearean actors and filmmakers throughout the history of cinema – with commentary by stage and film critics, actors, and film historians. Previous events have included exclusive screenings of Julie Taymor's Tempest and Coriolanus directed by Ralph Fiennes.

TALKING SHAKESPEARE
Members-only evenings of good conversation and high spirits, where you'll get the chance to interact with actors, directors, scholars - and each other! Past guests have included director and critic Robert Brustein, scholar James Shapiro, producer Jeffrey Horowitz, and actress Zoe Caldwell
SHAKESPEARE WORKS
A series of week-long residencies aimed at supporting the performance and production of Shakespeare in NYC and creating connections between the theatrical and academic communities. At the end of each residency, all the participants gather for a panel discussion. Past participants have included Michael Cumpsty, Martha Clarke, Elizabeth Marvel, Kristen Linklater, James Shapiro and Karen Newman.
Classes and Seminars
STUDY SEMINARS
Read and discuss Shakespeare’s plays in a relaxed and informal setting. The in-depth discussions of individual plays span four to eight weeks and provide an accessible guide to the richness and beauty of the greatest dramatist in the English language.
SPEAK THE VERSE
Experience Shakespeare’s language firsthand in these spirited classes taught by leading theater professionals. Learning the intricacies of Shakespeare’s verse provides a unique understanding of how Shakespeare creates character, mood and meaning. Teachers have included
Rhona Silverbush, Kristin Linklater, Roger Rees, Kate Forbes, Steven Skybell, Joseph Plummer and
Barry Ingham.
