MAKE A DONATION TO THE SHAKESPEARE SOCIETY TODAY!
Help The Shakespeare Society raise $10,000 by June 30, 2015* to support our unique programming in which we present, in the same event, both Shakespeare as theater, with well-known actors of Shakespeare performing scenes from the plays, and Shakespeare as literature, with deeply knowledgeable thinkers guiding us to a greater understanding of the plays and the scenes we see the actors perform on stage. Through its blend of the artistic and the literary, The Society empowers artists, audiences, parents and teachers at all levels to experience the Bard's work more immediately and deeply, thus helping to cultivate the next generation of Shakespeare-lovers in schools and homes across New York City.
In the 2013-14 season, our events featured actors Ron Cephas Jones, Herb Foster, and Stephen Fry; directors Jack O'Brien, David Leveaux, and Phyllida Lloyd; scholars David Scott Kastan, Marjorie Garber, and Stephen Greenblatt; and author Martin Amis, choreographer Alexei Ratmansky, and opera director and dramaturg Mark Lamos. Through our popular Shakespeare Talks series, we brought even more of the finest artists, scholars, and thinkers into conversation with each other and eager audiences. With 75 hours of studio time, we produced 3 distinctive Shakespeare Works residencies, laying the groundwork for tomorrow's most thoughtful and innovative Shakespeare productions.
All donations are fully tax-deductible.
*Donations from new sources or sources that have not given in 5 years will help us raise funds to secure a $10,000 matching grant from The Barker Welfare Foundation. Of course, we are appreciative of our long-term and ongoing donors' support as well, which is equally important in sustaining The Shakespeare Society's mission and work!
