The Shakespeare Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the enjoyment, understanding, and appreciation of William Shakespeare's works through performance, commentary, and educational activities. We believe the benefits of engaging Shakespeare's text personally and academically are immense and should evolve over a lifetime.
The Shakespeare Society invites college sophomores, juniors, and seniors or recent graduates interested in Arts Administration (including Development, Membership, Marketing/Press, etc.) or Education to apply for part-time internships. Administration interns will work closely with The Society’s Grants & Programs Manager, assisting with general office duties, fundraising (e.g. grants and donations), design projects, maintaining the website, event coordination, and Artistic programming initiatives. Education interns will support our Education Director in the office, may assist in classrooms around New York City, and will have the opportunity to work with our hugely successful Hunts Point Children's Shakespeare Ensemble.
Internships are unpaid; however, interns receive an honorary membership to The Shakespeare Society and free tickets to cultural events at a variety of venues. The minimum time commitment is 10 hours per week; some evening (Arts Administration) or weekend (Education) hours may be required.
We are currently seeking interns for our 2016-17 season. Interested applicants should send a cover letter, resume, and a reference to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please indicate which internship you are applying to in the subject line of your email.
