The Shakespeare Society produces some of the most thought-provoking and entertaining humanities programming in the city.  This fall, we have been thrilled to bring you Othello & Otello with the Metropolitan Opera; the Metropolitan Opera; The Year of Lear with James Shapiro; Shapiro; Richard II and The Disenchantment of Kingship with Andrew Holland; a sneak preview of the new Macbeth film; and much more. 

Upcoming events will feature former Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky, scholar James Shapiro, and cast members of the RSC’s titanic production of the Henriad at BAM, and include a trip out to Theatre for a New Audience for an evening in connection with Trevor Nunn’s production of Pericles. 

Our education programs continue to make yearly strides, serving thousands of schoolchildren and educators every year with workshops for teachers, in-school residencies with our fabulous Teaching Artists, after school programs school programs in partnership with the Union Settlement Association, and of course, the fantastic Hunts Point Children’s, now in its 9th year!
